Mostly Clay & Metal Fusion

“Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the clay-metal fusion class with evie watts. evie is wonderful, and the Liberty Arts people and space make for an inspiring and creative experience. Thanks!” – Patrice

In this 6-week course I will guide you through creating a story for a tabletop or wall sculpture. Bring in meaningful objects from home and nature or pick up bits from your favorite local hobby shop. We’ll go the through the process of laying out your pieces, then designing and creating the “tiles” in clay to work with and around these pieces, enhancing and really personalizing your piece.

Cost: $310 – this does not include table or custom-made metal frame. I’m happy to make the welded steel table to your specs ($150), or a welded steel wall sculpture frame ($75). Or you can bring in a table frame found at home or local flea market.

Where: All classes are held at Liberty Arts – 923 Franklin St., Durham NC 27701

When: Next class starts March 15th and runs through April 19th. It will be held from 3:00pm to 6::00pm every Tuesday evening for 6 weeks. The first three weeks we will all meet together. After that, as we start setting your pieces, we will work one-on-one finding convenient times. If you are interested in takin this class, but this time doesn’t work for you, find at least 2 other people who want to tell their story and we can come up with another time, possibly during the weekend or another evening. Contact me through this site and we’ll work out the timing.

If you’d like to join the next class as listed please contact our class coordinator at Liberty Arts or e-mail me at evie@eviegwatts.com I look forward to helping you tell your story.

Saturday Slip&Slam

If you’ve ever wanted to dip your toe into working with clay, or have previous experience and have a small project in mind, I have an alternative to the usual 6 to 8 week ceramics class. Come to my studio at Liberty Arts and we’ll spend a couple of hours one Saturday creating a few pieces, then return the following Saturday to glaze them. You can then pick up the final project at your leisure.

Cost: $130 – includes clay and glazes. If you have a particular glaze in mind you may need to purchase it yourself. Claymakers has a wide variety or you can look on-line at the Big Ceramic Store or Bailey’s amongst others.

Where: Liberty Arts Sculpture Studio & Foundry – 923 Franklin St., Durham NC 27701, Behind Golden Belt

When: Session 1 – March 12th & 19th, 10am – 1pm, Session 2 – April 23rd & 30th, 10am – 1pm, Session 3 – May 21 & 28th 10am – 1pm
